Meloni on tariffs: "We need to find a win-win deal, other scenarios are pointless."

"We agree that a trade war between the two sides of the Atlantic must be avoided at all costs, and we will continue with the other leaders, in constant contact with the European Commission, to reach an agreement that must be beneficial for everyone. My goal is to strengthen the West as a whole, by strengthening the economies. All other scenarios would be senseless in the current context," Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in statements to the press after her meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker at Palazzo Chigi, discussing the negotiations on tariffs between the US and the EU .
Regarding the war in Ukraine, Meloni commented: "We continue to see no progress on the Russian side: Russia continues to target civilians with increasingly brutal attacks, demonstrating how little Moscow is committed to building the peace we all seek, despite the Trump administration's desire for dialogue, which Putin has decided not to embrace. We see a change of posture on the part of the United States and we welcome it."
Regarding the Middle East, the Prime Minister explained: "We once again shared the absolute urgency of a ceasefire in Gaza, which could lead to the release of the hostages and allow humanitarian assistance to be provided to the civilian population. The European Union's commitment is undoubtedly positive, and I continue to work daily to support the mediators."
